I'm Stefano Mancini, a guy who has spent the last 20 years improvising in art. A degree in mathematics, no degree in art disciplines, no courses, not even correspondence courses, just a lot of self-taught experience. My art? Well, let's just say it's a bit like a buffet: there's everything from abstract to figurative, but often with a touch of cryptic to keep me in shape.
I experimented with many artistic disciplines, trying to mashup techniques like a DJ with vinyl. Painting, sculpture, pyrography, tattoos, I've tried it all. And yes, sometimes it ends up looking like I'm throwing darts at a map, but hey, at least it's fun.
My muse is Rome, my chaotic and fascinating city. Its historic streets and majestic monuments inspire me, though sometimes they make me feel like I'm a little fish in a big pond. But that's okay, art is also a bit of an embarrassment.
So yes, I am Stefano Mancini, the artist with no rules, who keeps throwing spaghetti at the wall of art to see what sticks. If you're ever in the neighborhood, stop by and see me in my studio. Who knows, we might do a paint-throwing performance art or something.
Ah, I almost forgot to mention my little social experiment. I launched a website where people can share one of their personal stories. If one of those stories strikes me in some way, well, then I start working on it. I create a piece of art inspired by that story and give it to the person who shared it. It's kind of like a bartering of experiences, only instead of cattle, there's art.
I don't know if that's brilliant or just crazy, but hey, at least it keeps me busy. And who knows, maybe sometimes I'll find a story worth turning into a masterpiece - or at least something that can end up on the refrigerator.
This experiment is available to everyone, but it is necessary for the people selected to receive the gift to pick it up at the studio--or do you also want me to bring it to your home?
